It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dick Rhyne due to complications from ALS on December 29, 2024. Dick was born on May 23, 1947 in St. Louis, MO and moved to Kansas City in 1971 to attend law school after graduating from MIZZOU and serving with distinction as First Lieutenant in the Army during Vietnam. Dick spent his over 50 years as a member of the Kansas City community giving back through various organizations, including First Call.

Dick had nearly 19 years of sobriety at the time his passing, and he gave over 14 of those years to sitting on the First Call Board, including several years as Chair.

He felt very passionately about the transformative nature of recovery and the duty of alcoholics to share their experience, strength and hope with the community to ensure that all those that struggle with addiction have a path to the help they need.
